11 Simple Steps Help You Make A Tattoo In Photoshop

Creating a tattoo is a matter of knowing basic design methods. The most important part of making the tattoo look realistic is to ensure it looks like it is beneath the skin. If you don't have any ideas, you can look for photographs online or in magazines for inspiration.
And you can see how a tattoo may look on yourself or a friend, you can use Photoshop to add a realistic tattoo on any photograph. Photoshop may be a go-to option for people designing logos, editing digital photos or creating abstract artwork, but its tools for drawings offer an ideal canvas for you to experiment on before committing anything to the permanent canvas of your skin.

Instructions
1. Open Adobe Photoshop. Click the "File" menu. Click the "New" option. Type the dimensions -- getting as close to realistic as possible -- into the "Width" and "Height" boxes, such as "4" and "2" respectively.
2. You also open an image of the body part you want to tattoo with your image editing software.
Press “Ctrl" and "O” from Photoshop, select a photo in the navigation window and click “OK.”
Click the “New Layer” button at the bottom of the Layer Panel.
3. Double-click the "Color Picker," the two overlapping colored squares at the bottom of the "Tools" palette. Choose the first color for the tattoo and click "OK."
4. Check out tattoo design sites or art websites. You can also use photographs of things like trees or people.
5. Open another image containing the artwork you want to use for the tattoo in a new window.
Highlight the artwork with the “Magic Wand Tool” from the Toolbox to select it. Press “Ctrl" and "C” to copy it. Paste it onto the photograph in the first window by pressing “Ctrl" and "V.”
6. Cut out and paste the image onto your body part so you can gauge what size will look best. Resize the artwork as needed by clicking the “Edit” menu and selecting “Scale.” Drag the corners of the artwork to scale down the tattoo as needed.
7. Use different layers to paste the new image over your body. Then flip between them to see how each looks compared with the rest. Save a new file every time you do this, using a name like "tattoo design 1."
8. Use the Photoshop drawing tools to edit your images. For example, use the eraser to clean up edges or the pencil to draw flames over a skull.
9. Add text to the tattoo by clicking the "T" icon, such as someone's name, a remembrance date or favorite quote. Select the “Horizontal Type Tool” from the Toolbar. Drag it across the image where you want the tattoo to appear. Select your desired font, size and color from the Options bar, at the top of the screen. Click the “Layer” menu, select “Raster size,” then click “Layer.”Merge this layer containing the text with the layer containing any artwork you added.
10. Click the “Opacity” menu in the Layers panel. Drag the slider to the left until the tattoo looks realistically faded. Examine the shape of the body behind the tattoo. Look at the angles to determine how the tattoo should be warped so it appears to be a part of the body. Click the “Edit” menu, select “Transform,” then click “Warp.” A grid appears around the tattoo. Click and drag the corners of the grid to warp it around the body.
11. Click the "File" menu. Click "Save As." Pull down the "Format" menu and click "GIF," the only file format allowing a transparent -- not white -- background. Click the "Save" button.
